“Nights In Cuba is an album that’s as relevant politically as it is musically.”

Dub Sonata’s acclaimed instrumental project Nights In Cuba is now available on vinyl for the first time ever, complete with a new 6-song EP titled Nights In Cuba Revisited included on Side D of the 2xLP release from Man Bites Dog Records.
Produced in the same fashion as the original 19-track album, Nights In Cuba Revisited is inspired by samples sourced from a crate of records the producer dug up during a 2010 trip to Cuba. Fast forward to 2022, Dub revisited the Caribbean island nation with camera in hand, where he reconnected with friends, musicians, and record dealers he met previously. The genre-bending project — layered with upright bass, trumpet, flute, sax, grand piano, acoustic guitar, various percussion, and scratches by Scram Jones — transports the listener to the streets of Havana.
The 2xLP vinyl is limited to 100 units, and the CD Digipak spread includes a colorful 16 page booklet of photos the record-collecting producer/photographer made during his most recent visit to Havana. Special bundles fuse together Dub’s music and photography work, and include limited and 1/1 fine art prints on various media, exclusive to our Bandcamp page. Proceeds from certain print bundles will directly benefit Madreagua Compañía de Espectáculos, a Havana-based music, arts and dance organization. All 1/1 prints include an autographed memento Dub brought back from Cuba for his biggest supporters. Nights In Cuba Revisited releases on Bandcamp April 21st, with all orders shipping out a few days prior. The new EP hits streaming platforms May 5th.
“Clearly inspired by DJ Cam/DJ Krush/Wax Tailor…a stellar example of chilled out turntablism with a Cuban swing.”
